A place not seen from the surface, but felt within. The mind is a terrible thing to waste, but yet so easily overlooked by a statement versus taking a stand.
We’d rather fit in, and pretend then to be unique, and different.
Although we possess different gifts we’d rather get surgeries that define what another feels is a trend. We’d rather sell drugs for fast money, just to hear someone say “you the man”, but time passes, but not as fast as those days you’ll spend in jail.
More black men in prison than in college is what statistics say, when they are caught up is when they say Jesus is the only way.
Women looking for a superhero to save them, and put them in the bigger than life lifestyle, but at what cost? Are all you are is what’s between your thighs, and why do you limit yourself by putting a price tag on what you think your worth?
Who, and where did the phenomenal women go? Have they gotten lost between the images created through society or did they step down, and start allowing someone else to tell them who they should be?
Knowledge is power is the chant that use to be said, but now some people won’t even pick up a book, and school and libraries are for squares is what they’d say, but I just wonder “how ignorant can they be?, when reading is said to be for geeks”.
We walk around with a sense of entitlement to everything, and we forgot no one owes us a damn thing.
With every generation, and technology humanity gets worse. We went from picking up the phone to hear someone’s voice to a text saying “hey, what’s up”. Then we wonder why we never get the intimacy or closeness when we are face to face, and we sit there wondering what to say.
The past is the past, and should stay there; it’s made you who you are today, but does not define how your future will be.
Along the way in life you’ll lose friends, and even family in some sort of way, but you got to learn to continue moving forward toward other brighter days.
Not everyone is meant to be a part of your life, your success, or even around you, and you must learn to accept that some things are just not meant to be.
With thoughts that run through my head like a faucet running water makes me wonder:
“How did we get so off track by not wanting a better tomorrow?”
