A Mother Scorned

Take a look around you, or should I say turn on the television or pick up a newspaper, and you will see what we call natural disasters happening.

Within the past few years we have experienced:

Haiti Earthquake 2010

    Japan Earthquake & Tsunami 2011

Chicago Blizzard 2011

Colorado Forest Fires 2012

and all other kinds of natural disasters, but what do must of us do? We brush it off, but what really is the problem? Mother Nature is trying to tell us she is UPSET with the way we are living our lives, and I must say I don’t blame her. Like most women, Mother Nature requires attention, tender love, and care; and I believe it is safe to say we are not giving her that.

We drill into the earth to get oil, we build buildings that stay vacant due to economy or just no need for the building, we have to have the highest and newest grade of technology, but what do we do with the old technology before we got to the “I have to have that” new technology? In fact what do we do with any of the stuff we no longer use?

ImageWe dumb them in landfills with stench that can be smelled from miles away. We have become the most wasteful species of our time; purchasing multiple cars, homes, technology, and other possessions that are not necessities, but we fail to realize these things are created using some parts of something that was created from the earth. Tell me why Mother Nature should give you so many gifts when we can’t even take the time to take care of her. Tell me do you even know what day is Earth Day? Can you name at least 10 types of trees or plants? Or when was the last time you planted anything to contribute to the earth? It is not mandatory that we recycle products, it’s not mandatory that companies even produce products that are safe for the environment or even consumption for humans. And tell me when was the last time you donated some of your unused items versus just tossing them in the trash? But, yet we wonder why Mother Nature is being so harsh.

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”

Mother Nature is upset with the way she is being treated, and she is making it known through the natural disasters, and it will only get worse UNLESS we decide to change our selfish ways.  Mother Nature gives us everything we need to survive, but yet we have become greedy, and have to have more, and have to have it now. We live in a society where we have grown impatient, and want everything right away from technology, to even fast food restaurants. Just look at the way things were done before your time. People made home cooked meals, women sew clothes, dishes and laundry were hand washed, we as a people were more domestic, but now, technology and greed has thrown us off track, and yet we expect Mother Nature to remain the same. Tsk! Tsk! Shame on you! We can’t have perfect weather if we never contribute to nature’s being.

We must give back what so kindly has been given to us or we will suffer the consequences miserably. You think the weather is bad now; continue on without a consciousness to what is really important, and that is protecting the environment in which we live in. We haven’t begun to see natural disasters, but we will if we don’t change our ways.
